It does not have to take much to update an area of your home. This will depend upon your budget and time. Here are some ideas for you, if you want to spend money and time, or are limited on either:

Update your bed. It does not mean the expense of buying a new bed (save that expense until the January sale) However, changing your bedding freshens up a bedroom in no time at all
You can add colour to the room without having to get a paint pot out
Colder months are the perfect opportunity to use warmer colours in bedding
Layer the bed, add throws or blankets, you may already have stuff you can adapt and use
Maybe it is time to treat yourself to some new pillows. I had a feather pillow so long, it lost so many feathers it turned into a cushion!
The same applies to duvets, a new one may be amazing and just what you need
Decide what you like best, foam or feathers. I love feathers myself, but foam as bolster cushion as they stay in the same shape. You can always mix and match

If you prefer feather pillows keep them plumped up with a regular shaking

A new feather duvet can make all the difference, as the pockets (the small squares) are full, with enough space to allow air to move. This keeps you warmer

How versatile are blankets and throws? If chosen carefully they can transfer to your favourite chair or sofa during the colder seasons, making them excellent value for money

Looked after correctly, they will last many years

OMG! What can I say! My electric blanket is my best friend during the colder months. It makes my bed inviting even on the coldest nights. If you share your bed, do remember to buy one with dual controls, or it could cause serious issues if one of you likes to be hotter than the other!
