HOME AND LIFESTYLE GODDESS
HOME UPDATES
that may cost a bit more

Your bed just has to be comfortable! Most of us tend to think we can manage on much less sleep than we actually need. Managing and needing are not the same. If your bed is not comfortable it will not encourage you to sleep.
At this time of the year you may notice it more, if you are going to bed to watch TV or read on these longer evenings.
Your bed, well your mattress really, is one of the most important buys you will make. If you share your bed, it will need to be a joint purchase. It seems to be that majority of the most important purchases take less time than it takes to buy a pair of shoes!
If you know me, you know that on line shopping is practically the only type of shopping I do, however, I go to the store when it comes to mattress buying. You have to lay on it, you have to lay on it and move around, you have to make sure it is right for you.
If the store does not have one that feels perfect, go somewhere else. Do not compromise, you will have this for a while.
If you have bought your mattress more than 8-9 years ago, it is probably time for a new one. You may not think so, but do a try out in the shop. Your needs can change. It may be that you have got used to being uncomfortable and do not really know it.
You do not need to replace the entire bed, may be just the mattress. You could then invest more money into your mattress.
You will never get quality sleep without a mattress that fits your needs.

Look at the various types of mattresses on offer, spring or memory foam for example. Memory foam does not suit everyone. You are looking for support. If you are going all out and buying a bed frame as well, now is your chance to get a bed with storage facilities. Think about your home and how best this could work for you. For example, it is no good have a drawer bed if one side of the bed sits against a wall, but a bed with sliding drawer at the bottom of the bed, or a life up mattress may work well. I have to say a divan bed can work well if you need extra storage, it can make light work of all your extra bedding.
Remember children need comfortable beds too. Extra storage in Children's rooms can only be a good thing.

Look at the depth of mattress, a deeper mattress may mean you need to buy extra deep fitted sheets, otherwise every bed change will send you crazy.
Look at your bedroom space, do not be tempted to buy a bed to big for your space. Lay paper on the floor to the size of the bed and get an idea. However, if you do have the space a king size bed instead of a double can give you the feeling of luxury.
Choose wisely, spend your money well and you could actually change how you feel every morning.
